Our trip to see the CATS!!

I can’t believe I haven’t posted since last Friday, where has the time gone, but before to much time got away from me I thought I would share a few pictures of our beloved CATS!!! and our trip this past weekend to watch them play.

Taken in Syracuse NY at the Elite 8 competition.  (although we lost, we had a great time).  It was amazing seeing all the blue and white in New York.  These fans are fanatic about their team and will follow them anywhere.  We were amazed when we arrived at our hotel on Saturday, all decked out in the BLUE and WHITE, we were staying at the hotel that the players were staying in and their was a sea of blue and white in the lobby and halls, as well as the cars in the parking lot.  I felt like  I was home.  It was wonderful.

Believe me we have tons of pictures to capture our weekend spent in New York, but this gives you a taste of my weekend. 

Now this weekend, we are traveling to Charlottesville Va. to see the George Strait concert.  We missed him when he came to Baltimore in January, so we are going to make a three hour drive down to see the concert and spend the weekend traipsing through Va with some friend, hoping to get some antiquing in while we are gone.  What are your Easter plans?

Now I finally know

the answer to a question that has plagued me for awhile now. 

Let me start at the beginning.  As most of you already know I’m in the process of selling my house.  We tried last year and had tons of lookers but nothing ever became of any of the viewings, so we took it off the market through the cold winter months and decided to start fresh this spring.  So we are having a new realtor come by tomorrow.

Anyhow, I have done lots of decluttering and staging for the sale of this house, therefore most of my  goodies that make my home, my home are in storage.  I am so eager to have ALL my things in one home again.  But that is still a while down the road.  But my biggest question has been, what decorating style am I now.  You see, over the years, I have been a simple country girl and love the country look.  However, as I am aging, my style is changing but so many of the country things that I have loved for so long, I STILL love.  They bring back wonderful memories of days gone by. My thoughts on buying things has always been simple too.  Make sure you LOVE it.  So that is what I try to do, and don’t want to part with.  I know I will find a creative use for them in the future.

So as you can imagine with not knowing where I am going or what type of home I will have, it has weighed on my mind what do I keep and what do I continue to get rid of.  But because I didn’t know what style I really was, I was torn.  That is until now.  Now I finally know.  You see while scanning the internet and going to all the wonderful blogs in blogland I found  someone that actually put a name to my style.  Denise at  Cottage Home Decorating.  I know I like the cottage look but I also love the farmhouse style, and was leaning toward it.  Thinking that was my style.  Then this captured my eye, she said “

Rainy Monday

but it’s a busy one here.  I’ve been on the phone this morning ALL morning, taking care of business.  :)  Can you believe that I have been paying for a web service for over several years(at least 3 or more) and wasn’t using it.  I called and got that taken care of this morning.  No more payments to them.  Woo Hoo.  I can’t believe how I sat on the fence for so long with that.  But each time I tried in the past to cancel it, it was more work than it was worth the 13.00 a month I was paying.  But at some time you realize that it just keeps adding up.  So I had to put a STOP to it.  One thing down…

Then I had to contact the real estate agency….we are getting ready to put our house on the market and we have decided to try a different realtor than the one we used last year.  So we have a appt. for the realtor to come to the house on Wednesday evening for a walk through and get the ball rolling with that.  With the market the way it is, who knows if we will sell it….but hoping that we get a buyer so we can move on with our future plans.

Today is the perfect day to do some cleaning, although I don’t have alot that has to be done, but thinking that I might spend a good deal of time in my kitchen today.  Maybe I will give it a good spring clean.  Work on dinner plans for tonight and maybe do some baking.  All that said, that is IF I can get motivated.  I do have some work I need to do on the computer, so might do that instead.  :) 

I have to tell you all I won….I won a Easter Blessing giveaway that my friend Sue is  hosting from her wonderful site Country Pleasures.   I couldn’t believe it when she contacted me.  I am beyond thrilled.  :) Thanks Sue!  Now I have something to look forward too coming in the mail.

 

 

Did you have a good weekend?  We sure did, the weather here was absolutely beautiful with temps in the high 60’s to mid 70’s. I got the weeds out of my flower beds  and now you can see what is actually starting to come up.  I can’t wait for flowers to start poking through the ground.  It’s still a bit to early here to pot any plants for outdoors for fear of frost….but as soon as the weather man gives me the okay my porches and deck will be laden with assorted color. This photo was taken several years ago and I love the screen door, however, we have since replaced the door with a door that has a big oval window in, so the screen door has gone bye bye.  But I love screen doors, they are a favorite memory of mine as a child.  I love hearing them slam shut! 

Well the guy for my roof is here, so need to scoot.  Hope you have a blessed and fun-filled Monday!

Saturday is finally here

and I have things to do.   The weather is suppose to be sunny and in the 60’s today so perfect weather to do a little shopping.  I have my handy dandy list in tow and gonna make some tracks today,would love to hit a few yard sales this morning if I can find  some. One of my favorite things about spring and summer are YARD SALES!

Did I ever show you some of the cool things I have gotten while “junking” as I like to call it.  It is a name that me and my bff have given this activity.  My Hoosier cabinet that I got for  40.00, love this thing!!!

The old typewriter and fan are both finds too.  Can’t remember what I gave for them, but had been looking for them.  Hubby bought the old camera, it came in a case with film even.  I also purchased that magnifying glass and spectacles  at yard sales.  Some day, I hope to put these little items in a library.  But for now, they are all stored away until after a move takes place.  :( Much like alot of my other treasures.

I digressed, I know.  Now where were we…..

I wish my to do list looked like this one, but I have to get out and get a wedding shower gift for my son and his fiancé s shower that is next weekend.  I am also on the hunt for the perfect pair of shoes for my dress as well as some other goodies. 

Plus my pantry is begging me to get it restocked.  Most likely will hit the grocery store while I am out and about today.  For the first time in weeks/months, I put together a menu for next week and so need to make  sure I have everything that I need.  I picked out a couple of great recipes from PW and Picky Palate.  Can’t wait to try those!   

 

I have to get as much done as possible today so that I can get home to watch my UK wildcats play Wake Forest in the second game of the NCAA series.  You will not hear me talk alot about sports on here, but I am a die hard UK Basketball fan, and so until March Madness is over, or the Wildcats are out, then you will just have to listen to me.  :)  I will try to make it pain free though.

Need to get moving

but for some reason I am glued to my computer this morning.  I know I should be doing something productive, but I keep hopping from one blog to the next.  So much inspiration out there.  From projects to try, to filling my soul with God’s word.  These women are simply amazing. 

But I do have my handy dandy schedule out for today, and time for blog reading isn’t on it.  Note to self:  Change that immediately!  But I am going to pry myself away for a bit so that I can get a few things knocked off my to do list and then come back later.

I have my little “Idea” book out too.  This is a little binder that I have that I keep lot’s of… well, ideas in.  Hence the name.  Aren’t I clever?  This binder has books I want to read, project I want to try, personal goals I have, my gratitude list, and inspirational and motivational sayings, etc.  I also keep a home inspiration folder that is filled with pictures from magazines and books that I want to remember.  Such as the one to the left.

A few people over time have mentioned my organization and list….YES….I couldn’t live without them.  It’s what keeps me on task and helps me get things done in a given day, otherwise my mind would just jump from on thing to another.  Plus I like the gratification of checking things off my list.  But I am a firm believer that if you struggle with staying on task, this is a great way to go.  One thing I have done for years, is keep a pencil and paper beside my bed to jot down the next days duties.  That way I can unload those things from my mind before I drift off to dreamland.

Due to working full time, I fell behind on keeping up with my list and such so I am trying to get everything back in order.  I really could have used my schedules while I was working, but I was so tired I didn’t have the mental ability to do it, my mind stay mush most of the time.  NOT GOOD! 

Well ladies, I could go on about this forever, because I LOVE being organized.  But I really do need to scoot and start my day.  I will be back!

It’s just been one of those day

to get lots accomplished, which is a good thing because I got NOTHING accomplished over the weekend.  The weather here was rainy and cold and perfect for doing nothing.  Granted it would have been perfect for getting some projects completed, but my heart and body weren’t in it. 

Although I did get through a mountain of magazines that has been sitting on my coffee   table for a few weeks, tagged and ready for me to clip and save my inspiration pages, etc…so might work on that this afternoon.  I got high hopes.  :)

Had time to share some of my Sunday with my son, he came over for awhile and he and I watched the SEC championship.  It was alot of fun watching it with him, but will confess that I sat   on pins and needles the whole game.  It was a nail biter.  Not sure how I managed to keep mine.  Here at our house we are gearing up for the NCAA playoffs.  Being a Kentucky girl, we are pulling for our WILDCATS!  Go big blue!!!!

Woke up this morning to another dreary day, but I had my handy dandy list made out and so I got right to work on taking care of business. Two major accomplishments for me this morning, I finalized the menu and venue for the rehearsal dinner for my son’s wedding.  Woo Hoo!  and I also got my menu’s made out for next week.   I have been saying for awhile I was going to get back into making a list, because we tend to eat better and I know when my feet hit the floor that day what I am going to be making for dinner.  So I scoured some of my favorite cooking sites and came up with some wonderful new recipes for us to try over the course of the next couple of weeks.  I also spent time organizing my portable office.  Portable office you ask, it is my Longaberger basket chock full of my lists for everything.  It carries my files  that consist of my shopping list, menus, cooking magazines, my spiritual binder that houses my prayer list, inspirational and motivational thoughts, as well house inspiration.  This little basket is overflowing but I love it, because I know where everything is that keeps my mind clear of clutter and thoughts.  I am in the process of reworking some of files.

I still have a pile sitting beside me of the things that I need to get too today, so instead of writing this, I should clipping my coupons.  So off to clip and save.  What are you doing today?  What makes your feel productive?

Weekly Roundup

Hi ya’ll, here it is Friday and I have been away.  I can’t believe how quickly the weeks pass by.  In a earlier post I commented on struggling the last several weeks.  I am happy to report that I feel like I am on the road to recovery.  Sometimes it feels like when it rains it pours and that was definitely the case for me.  Anyway, this has been a very active week for me.

 

As some of you back in the fall I became a homemaker again after years of working full time. Anyhow, it has been a experience trying to get unemployment started, etc. I mean I have never drawn unemployment before.  So that has been a eye opener because everything is done online.  I remember back in the day when you had to go to a office to apply.   On Wednesday  I had a workshop that I had to attend in order for my benefits to remain.  The workshop was extremely informative.  Things sure have come along way.

 

For the most part this week has been working on finalizing the last minute touches to my son’s rehearsal dinner.  I think I am almost there.  I can’t believe how much work it is to organize and plan one of these events.  But we had what I hope is our final pow wow last night…Earlier in the week my son and I met with the  establishments owner to go over food choices and head count.  We finally got our price from them just for me to call them back this morning to make modifications.  I am sure they are going to love me when this is all over. 

 

So needless to say, I haven’t had alot of free time to be on the computer or reading blogs….however I did find myself back at Jill’s site, if you are a organized person, she has some of the most awesome creative projects for you to try.  Several others caught my eye weeks ago, and I am including some of the information to my “to make” folder.  Do ya’ll have one of those?  Seems my folder keeps getting bigger and bigger and I am not getting anything accomplished. 

 

Check out her Menu planning of the month. Or her managing her blog notebook. But I have to say that this might be one of my favorites, her recipe cards and binder cover.  She has the most adorable recipe cards ever and if I had cards like that to look at, I might want to cook more than I do.  :)
