Time for action

Some days I feel so torn....not sure where I am going or what I should be doing.  Do you have days like this?  My heart and mind just rush around with endless thoughts and worry.  And at the end of the day I find myself right where I was and not much to show for the day. Such a waste.  Needless to say, I don't like days like that or the feelings that follow.

Time to redirect my focus....get it off self and onto others and something productive.  Believe me, at times it is easier to tell yourself this than to actually do it, but I have faith that "this too shall pass".

After several weeks of confusion, I have made it my focus today to do certain things to get me back to a better and balanced place:

  • Daily quiet time with my bible
  • Prayer time (my prayer request list is long)
  • List making and goal setting
  • Spend time on something that makes me happy.
  • Learn something new, ie how to use a new software, how to use a new application for my phone or computer, or a new craft.

Most times I find that I have these types of feelings when I am thrown out of my routine or off my daily schedule. I'm a creature of habit. ( And if you have read my last post, you know that I just experienced my daughters wedding.) Hence these feelings of confusion, mixed in with lots of "negative self talk".  Please tell me that I am not the only one that has "negative self talk" from time to time.

I found a article that I archived for reading (over and over if needed) and it was needed today.  Here is the post title and date of the post.  Coincidence I don't think so.  God's timing is always perfect.

How to Stop Negative Internal Chatter

Just in case you need the points I need to stop the negative internal chatter, I decided to share them with you. Here we go:
1. Starve the stomach of self-pity.
If you don’t feed it, it will not grow.  Circumstances are not ours to control and they may not even be ours to change, but they are ours to conquer.

2. Give thanks in everything.
give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. I Thess. 5:18
I’m thankful that this verse uses the word “in.”  Because there are things for which I struggle to be thankful. But I can be thankful in the circumstance because there is always something to be thankful for- for who God is if nothing else.

3. Pull those weeds out before they take root.
When I saturate my mind in Scripture, I find that the weeds aren’t even given a chance to take root. Then they dry up and wither.

4. Water the blooms.
Last Thursday night we had prayer meeting. Water.
Each day I’m doing my best to keep up with the Bible Reading Challenge (just caught up!!) The Word is water.
Sunday morning I heard God’s Word preached in church. Water.
Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water. Jn. 7:38
Great tips Rachel. You can see her whole post on the topic here.

Thanks for stopping by today and letting me share a bit of my struggle with you.  Feel free to share any tips on how you combat confusion and negative self talk.

Blessings,

Cindy

Weekly Roundup- November 4th,2011

Another week and more blog goodies, so many clever women and great redo reveals.

Kerryanne @ Shabby Art Boutique created a awesome chalkboard from this old mirror. What a clever use for this.

Vicki @Ranger 911 converted a old cubby cabinet that she found at a antique mall to this. I love this, the soft paint choice sprinkled with the white and touches of black. Awesome!

Jaime@ Crafty Scrappy Happy  converted her master bedroom.  Great use of colors as textures as well as some great furniture re-do’s.

Tracey @ A comfy Little Place of my own transformed a antique vanity.  Pretty redo!

Anita @ Going a little coastal transformed a old hutch into a beautiful china cabinet.  Another love.

Seeing all these redo’s  is motivating me to get to work on some of my projects….well almost!
Are you working on any projects?

Hope you have a blessed weekend.

Lazy Tuesday!

Happy Tuesday everybody.  I hope everyone is having a great start to the week.

Today is looking like a rather slow day here for me.  I have been really lazy this AM….after getting up and getting showered, I had to get this hair washed….I decided to sit back and watch a movie.  One that my kids  gave me several movies at Christmas and I still hadn’t watched them all, so I threw “Julie and Julia” into the machine and starting watching.  Have you seen it? I really enjoyed it.

Julie_and_Julia_Book_Cover1

“Frustrated with a soul-killing job, New York secretary Julie Powell played by Amy Adams embarks on a daring project: she vows to master all 524 recipes in Julia Childs' landmark cookbook, Mastering the Art of French Cooking.'' Intertwined with Julie's story is the true tale of how Julia Child  played by Meryl Streep herself mastered French cuisine with passion, fearlessness, and plenty of butter.”

Watching this movie, has me in anticipation of the new cooking “Home on the Ranch” featuring Ree Drummond (The Pioneer Woman from blogland)this Saturday?  To find out more about it you can check it out on the food network.  Will you be watching?  My DVR will be set, jic.

So what are you doing today?

The weather here today is much cooler, it was around 50 when I got up this AM, with highs going to the low 80’s.  This morning would have been perfect for a sweatshirt.  This weather has me longing for fall.

I guess it is time to stop being lazy….but just wanted to see what everyone is up too.

Hope you have a very blessed Tuesday.

I’m back, it’s been a couple of weeks since I did the roundup….but while surfing and reading this week, I fell in love with a  few things.  Take a look…

Heather @ At the Picket Fence shows us how to make No Sew Pillows.  This is good for me, since I can’t sew a stitch.  Someday…..but that is for another time.

Jen @ Remodelaholic converted a antique sewing machine stand into a lovely shabby chic desk.  Now why didn’t I think of that?

Did you find any fun and “have to try” projects this week?  Let me know.

UPDATE:  6/17/11 @9:30 AM
Jane @ Finding Fabulous steered me clear on the old worn dresser by EllaBoo.  I had originally thought she had created this dresser, however she informed me it was a piece she featured.  Anyhow, I just wanted to Thank her, and also let you know you should still check out her blog...it is SOOOOOOO worth your while.

What I was looking at

Good Morning ya’ll.

Since I was sick last week and didn’t get around to doing my weekly roundup I thought I would do something a little different today. I thought I might share with you some informative (fun)blog post by others out there in blogland that I ran across.

Ya’ll I know I have said before that there is so much wonderful information out there in blogland and I am so grateful to the women who put so much time and heart into their blogpost, as well as all their savvy tricks and tips. I seem never to tire of reading them.

Aimee @ Simple Bits did just that when she wrote Eat well spend less (How to store food for maximum shelf life.

new-dried-food-in-jars

Gina @ Gina’s Skinny Recipes (one of my new favorite recipe sites)  is awesome.  If you love food and good food that doesn’t add a ton of weight to your body…then check her out.  I can not tell you how many new recipes I want to try. I made her Southwestern Black Bean Salad.  Let me just say, it is a great alternative to chips with my sandwiches at lunch.  However for me, I had to forego the avocado (I love it, but it doesn’t love me back…boohoo) but I will be making this again.  $ Can you see all that yumminess all mixed together there?

Also one of my highlights was posted last week when Amanda at KevinandAmanda.com released a wonderful new set of handwriting fonts for us to  use.   How cool is that? If you didn’t catch these fonts for free download then  I hope you will now. They are from some of our favorite bloggers out in blogland, here is the list below.  Don’t know about you, but I read all these ladies. Excitement doesn’t even describe my feelings over Amanda’s post.

Bridget – Bake at 350
Jessica – How Sweet Eats
Amanda – I am Baker
Rachael – La Fuji Mama
Ashley – Make It and Love It
Sara – Our Best Bites
Jenny – Picky Palate
Rachael – Rachael Rossman

And I also found this little idea, I love the way that Suzanne @ Just another hang up created this wonderful wall of accolades.  What a special way to show off your kids and grandkids artwork.

Before I leave you today I want to share with you my latest addiction….it’s called pinning…if you haven’t tried it, you should…but I worn you it’s very addicting.  Make sure you wait until you have LOADS of time…or not…tee hee…but either way check it out, especially if you love saving images and recipes and just things you love from the internet.

Beth @ The Stories of A to Z has a helpful tutorial on how to use Pinterest.   Also as a bonus Beth has a link for immediate access to the site (instead of having to wait, like I did) .

Now I know my interest where a little all over the place this week, but that is kinda how my head is screwed on lately.   Not to mention, while working on this post I was interrupted like a million times.

Oh please forgive me for just getting this out. Normally I will work on putting this post together throughout the week when I run across something on a blog that I have enjoyed…but not this week…and now, this morning I’ve been swamped with other “personal” things to tend too.

But I really don’t want the week to get away without my contribution to my weekly roundup. I would have had more to show you, however I blew spent WAY to much time at each of these blogs, making notes, bookmarking, etc.…you get the point.

Anyhow, I hope you will spend some time drooling looking around.  And will find some inspiration too.

Little behind the times

Do you ever get like that?  I know I do.

I decided that today I would finally offload my camera, cause I had gads of pictures that I wanted to share, but just hadn’t taken the time to do this one intricate step.

Several weeks ago, I mentioned that hubby and I traipsed off to The Wild Rose and Co. shop that was just opening in our area, you can read about the shop opening here, oh and did we ever. Well, today I am going to show you just one of the things I got while we were there.  If you remember this is the weekend hubby was in the market for the new TV.  Anyhow, I fell in love with one piece there and he fell for another.  This is the piece he fell in love with. (Sorry it is a lop sided view of the cabinet) but hey, what can I say.

Actually this is a old cabinet that was housed in a barn (I believe) until Molly got ahold of it.  (Check out her blog and the other talented ladies that have space in this shop  ooh la, la!!.  You can find their links on the other post)

20101026_13

Anyway, Molly put this piece in the shop, and even though I loved it too, I wasn’t sure it was going to work for the purpose of a TV stand.  It was a bit to high, so hubby took his handy dandy saw to the legs and shortened it a bit.  Now it is perfect height! But I am in {heart} with the way it houses my components and DVD’s and CD’s.

20101026_15

20101026_16

Not sure it is going to stay this way, as I have another piece that I purchased too, and have some ideas for it…so you will just have to wait and see what happens with it.  Hoping to finish up with it soon.

This past weekend, hubby and I traveled down to The Barn Show and that was really awesome.  Unfortunately I couldn’t go down on Friday, so went down Saturday and they still had great pieces to buy.  But with very sad face, I didn’t get anything.  I am  believing I need a bigger home, or I need to stop liking these girls work.  Anyway, here is a small sample of what they had that I just fell in love with.

(Forgive the quality of these pictures, they were made on my phone)

counter island

How cool would this be as a kitchen counter island.  It was a distressed cream color with the dark top…stunning!

deskThis desk would have come home with me, if I could have figured out a place to use it.  It had loads of space and little cubbies, and it was painted a wonderful mustard gold with a dark stain.  Be still my heart….

black cubby  I would die for this too….it was painted black with all the little white labels….needless to say my head was reeling by the time we left.

Gail and IAnd here is sweet Gail  of The Kramer Angle check out her blog….she does awesome work and has such beautiful things at her shows and in the Wild Rose Shop and Co.  If your local check her out, you’ll be so glad you did.  I know I am….

Again I apologize for the quality of these grainy photos, but I am making do with what I got.

I hope you enjoyed your visit, and make sure you pop back in soon, want to share my front porch decked out for fall with ya.

Hope your having a blessed day.

My Daughter

You’ll never really know, my dear,
Just how much you mean to me,
A mother’s love, buried so deep,
That only my heart can see.

When I sit and really stare at you,
All I can do is grin,
Somewhere down deep inside,
I see myself within.

I’d never change a thing in you,
I thank God that your so fine,
Even when your at your worst,
I’m so proud that you are mine.

The roads we have traveled,
were not always that good,
I would take back all the pain you’ve felt,
Only if I could.

I know that I’m not perfect,
It’s the best that I can do,
But everyday, I thank the lord,
For a daughter as special as you.

(author unknown)

Can you believe that I am actually getting around to doing a roundup again?  I have shared a couple of things I found while scouring the pages this week that I have bookmarked. Believe me there was more, but time ran out.

I am in love…… m

bottom of hutch

Can you say WUNDERBAR?  Melanie really outdid herself on this piece of furniture, but then again all her work/redo’s are great. Check this out at The Frosted Gardner, you don’t want to go though if you don’t have LOTS of time to look around.

Are you ready for another great transformation?  Check out what Leigh of Dirt Cheap Decor did here.  I’m in love with those doors as a headboard and the colors in this room are so tranquil, gotta love the little sparkly chandelier.

How simple and cute is this little idea that Sarah @2 Giggles Boxes created.  Thinking this is VERY doable.  B

Monday, April 19, 2010

I have been asked this

many times in my life, “Are you a Stepford wife?”.  Not exactly put that way, but the question was the same.  Well this morning while reading some of my favorite Christian woman inspired blogs (several links to some great women on the left) I found that Courtney at Women Living Well, answers this question.

Courtney has a awesome blog (I {heart} her blog) where she shares lots of wonderful Christian views on marriage, home, family, women.  She has also done a great study about the Proverbs 31 woman.  Whom is my inspiration as a woman.  Be all that God wants you to be.

Be blessed this Monday!

Hugs,

Cin Sig
