Some of what I did this weekend.

Hi ladies,

Thought I would take a little time to tell you that I had very productive weekend, and now it is back to work for another week. I am so grateful for list, or I would never seem to make it. I did get about half of my chores done this weekend that I had on my list. We ( I should say Michael) got the bedroom painted and the ceiling fan hung. All the while I worked on more decorating,I did finally find one of the boxes that was missing. I know there is at least one more, but it isn't a big deal. Mainly the pumpkins which I use to sit around or put on my front porch display. So when I run across them I will finish up.

I also gave the kitchen a good clean last night. Michael in all his sweetness made enchilda's for dinner. Can you say yummy? and leftovers? Anyway, I digress, but after all his hard work in the kitchen I decided to do the clean up. I wiped down all the countertops, unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher, cleaned out the fridge and did a wipe down, I also put some homemade vegtable soup I made (earlier in the week) in the freezer to have again at a later date, swept and mop the kitchen and family room floor. So felt like alot was accomplished in the kitchen.

Spent some time working on my holiday and prayer journals this weekend too. Needed to do some update. This is the third or fourth year that I have used the HOLIDAY GRAND PLAN and Christmas Countdown so needed to do some updating in those journals. This year I signed up for another little helper. Cara is hosting Holiday Countdown at The Household Helper. Hey with my schedule and anything that can keep me on task I need. Check it out.

Most of you would die if you knew that I have 429 subscriptions (as of this morning) in my google reader. I have them broke down into certain categories. It keeps me from missing out on anything new that is posted by some great bloggers. The ideas, tips, creativity of some of these women are amazing. I also have several blog helps in my reader, and I am loving it. Only problem is, it makes me want to change and update and move things around. But over the next little bit I want to share some of these wonderful finds with you.

Should close for now, will be back soon.
Hugs!

Judy over at Homespun Blessings is having another awesome giveaway.  Check it out by visiting with her.  She truly is one of the most giving people I have ever met, so if you haven't had a chance to get to know her.  Stop over.

Gotta scoot to get ready for bed, gotta get up early tomorrow to start a new week.

Lots going on

This has truly been a busy week for me.  I can't believe that I haven't gotten back here to make a post, but after working all day everyday and then coming home to extra activities I have been pretty beat.  And when my night winds down early so that I can prepare for my early  mornings, I just don't get to this.  We all know that something has to go and unfortunately it is my blog.  Hoping in the next few weeks things will slow down some.

I am thinking that I need to write post when I have time and then set them to publish.  Gotta figure that out though.  There is so many goodies that I find while reading all my blogs that I want to share some great places, and things with you all so thinking I need to get a system in place.  Gonna work on that this weekend.

A couple of things that have been going on with me is work...the company I work for lost the contract on which I have been working on for the last three years so for the last several weeks my job has been up in the air.  As of now, it looks like it all has worked out and I give God all the glory.  When I left work yesterday I found out that I still have a job on Wednesday.  God answered my prayers and alleviated my fears and anxiety.  Praise God!!!!

Last night Tori had a ball game  it was the homecoming game.  I missed it.  :( , However, I did get to have dinner with my daddy.  He drives a tour bus (he is retired and can still so he does this on the side) and he brought a group of seniors (55+) up to Washington DC and they just happened to be making a trip to the Inner Harbor in Baltimore, so Michael and I drove down and met him for dinner.  We don't get to do that very often and it was great to see him.  Even if it was for only a few short hours.

My sons left yesterday morning early and drove to Nashville Tn. to visit with my sister and go to the Titans and Vikings game with her on Sunday.  I would have loved to have gone as I can't wait to see my new little nephew Caleb. From the pictures I have seen he is simply adorable.  Can't wait to get my hands on him.

Tonight Tori has her homecoming dance so I have been helping her this morning get everything ready.  Mainly her hair.  Boy is that alot of work.  This is the first time she hasn't gone and gotten it done, but she wanted to do it herself.  She has to run some errands in town, one of which is going to Claire's so get a head piece to wear with her dress.

I also had to go pick up her Senior portraits this week.  I finally got hers in a frame this morning and will hang it this weekend.  Michael and I are doing some home projects this weekend. Some of our task are:

  • painting the guest room
  • hanging new ceiling fan (in that room/as well as ours)
  • hang new curtain rods in our room
  • work on some fall projects
  • finishing decorating for fall ( still have to find the other boxes)
  • clean out my fridge
  • bake
  • make out menu for next week
  • work on my coupons and organize them

So as you can see I have quite a bit to do on my time off.  There are a few other things I would like to do, but not sure I will get to them.  So they may go on my ongoing list.

Going to post this now, and will try to get back a bit later and post again...maybe with some pictures.  (gotta get them off-loaded from the camera).

Have a blessed day.

Hugs!

Some Blog fun

What Your Bed Says About You

Outward appearances are very important to you. You do your best to look good and have an attractive home.

You try to be an organized person, but you often fall behind. Certain parts of your life tend to fall into chaos.

You are very high maintenance. You like everything a certain way, and you're grumpy if things aren't the way you like them.

In relationships, you tend to kick back and let the other person be in charge.

You tend to be a down to earth, practical person. You think in terms of what is actual.

You are a total homebody. You are happiest when you're at home.

Welcome Fall!

Busy little bee!

Hi Ladies, I wanted to post before another week was gone and I hadn't. I know you must get tire of hearing me apologize but for whatever reason, I can't get here to post. Although I do get around to visit now that I am using my Google Reader. It cuts down about have the time. Just wish I could post a comment from there. Google guys could you work on that for me?

...This has been a good week, but a real busy week for me. I have been playing chauffeur for Tori this week, as Derek came to pick up her car on Sunday night. Appears his power steering went out on his car so it is in the shop and so I get to take her back and forth to/from cheer practice and all that that implies. I really don't mind but it has just meant extra time on the road.

Yesterday after I got off work, I ran to the salon and got my hair highlighted and cut. Today I feel like a new woman. Why do we always do for ourselves last? Granted I know one reason I don't go and get my hair done anymore than I do, is time and money. I have a hard time sitting still that long, :) and it continues to go up in price. Will be glad when Tori can do mine. She is in her second year of Cosmo classes (through her high school) and she now works in the clinic at the school. So she already does hair colors and cuts, but haven't let her do mine yet.....Hmmmmmmmmm, guess I will have to let her. She loves it.

There is so much going on at this time of year. And I am loving it. Michael and I have had really productive weekends this past month, and not really sure what all we will accomplish this weekend, but hope to get out a little bit on Saturday morning for some yard sales/antiquing/junking....something. I have done pretty good this week staying up on all my house work, so shouldn't have to spend loads of time with that.

Some things left on our to do list is:

  1. Hang cabinet in bathroom
  2. Clear out some hotspots (almost done with this)
  3. Season my old *new* cast iron skillets (bought at a auction)
  4. Work on my Holiday Grand Plan journal. (in the third week of the grand plan, trying to stay on task)
  5. Finish fall decorating (have several crates missing, gotta find)
  6. Start dismantling Wesley's room to move to basement, and transform his room to new guest room and office.

Now remember these are just some of the jobs we still have to do...We'll get there.

Hope you all are having a wonderful and blessed Thursday!

Hugs!

I'm a auntie....

I can't believe it. I finally have a nephew. My sister, who is several years younger than I am, has been trying to adopt for several years.

Caleb She found out the end of August that she was going to become a mother and it was going to happen soon. And it did. Long story, and a bit disturbing but my little nephew Caleb came into the world on September 11, at 11:19 PM, 7 lbs, 9oz, 20 inches long and seems to be perfect even though he had a traumatic entrance into this world. Due to his circumstances he has had to remain in the hospital and be monitored, and initially my sister was told that she would get to bring him home on Monday, gbi_tinys1_95_1 but the doctors came in last night and said he was doing exceptional so they will discharge him today. My sister is so pleased, and can't wait to get her little bundle of joy home. Please keep my sister in your prayers and this is a new venture for her as well as baby Caleb. I just praise God that he has taken care of them through all this.

gbi_tinys1_025_2 Wow, what a productive Saturday I had. I puttered around in the house all morning, just doing the basic picking up and cleaning up. Loads of laundry was washed, dried and folded. Just need to put it away. Michael also worked on framing our bedroom windows, so after he finished those, we moved everything out of our bedroom and cleaned the baseboards, dusted, and vacuumed and then put everything back. With the exception of our bed. We bought a new bed, a big brushed brass bed at a auction last weekend. It looks so nice in there. Once I get the laundry off the bed, I will have to take some pics. I still need to get some new rods for my curtains, but Michael would like to replace those because he isn't crazy about the ones that I have now. I like them, but he doesn't.

gbi_tinys1_girldesk01b I also quite abit of web work to do and now I think I am all caught up...well at least for now, but I realized I really should organize my computer files. It's rather confusing because I use two computers, and so I have to do it double.

Yesterday we watched gbi_tinys1_045_2 Hurricane Ike's damage. All Michael's family live in the suburb of Houston in Friendswood. Other than losing their power they made out fine. Praise God! I am still a bit concerned for his folks though, as his mother is on oxygen and they have enough fuel for several more days to run her oxygen. After that, not sure what will happen.

gbi_tinys1_035_2 Needless to say it was a busy day, gbi_tinys1_66_2couldn't wait to soak in the tub and hit the bed. Just so I could get up and start again today.

Let's see today is going to be full of football. Wesley has several friends coming over and they plan to watch all the games and grill out. Wesley's kind of tailgating.

My chore list for today:

  1. clean kids bath

  2. mow lawn (Michael's doing this)
  3. get garage back in order (Michael made a big mess yesterday while working on the framing)

  4. Read
  5. Nap (girls gotta do what a girl's gotta do)

  6. Finish decorating for fall, several more boxes in the garage

So as you can see, I should get a move on. Hope you have a blessed day.

Where has the time gone?

(Sorry no pictures this post, I have to download them from the camera)

Boy, time has gotten away from me again.  So much has been going on, I don't know where to start.  Let start with the fish pond.  :)  Those pictures were of the fishpond at Michael's folks house.  We flew out to Houston during Labor Day and we had a great trip but it was terribly emotional.  His mom is so weak, she has to have oxygen all the time now, and also one of her girls comes over ever day to drain the fluid off her lungs.  She has lost all her hair so they have to treat her scalp too.  It was hard seeing her that way.  Also, she sat Michael and I both down and told us she wanted us to go out and spent a certain amount of money on something that we wouldn't normally by for ourselves.  She wants that to be our Christmas present from her because she knows she will not be here for the holidays.  While we were there, she went through all her jewelry and started dispersing it.  I have never experienced anything quite like that before, and it made me uncomfortable, but I know Betty wants her things to go to the people she wants to have it.  So she was happy that she got to enjoy seeing people receive her jewelry.  So as you can see it was a emotional trip, and it was hard to leave because we felt like it was probably the last time we would see her.  She is on large doses of morphine and she has a hard time staying awake.  It was just sad.

Let's see, Tori has started her senior year.  They had their first football game on Friday night.  We lost, but it was great seeing her cheer.  Again, it was sad when I realized that this was going to be the last year I would be going to watch her.  I do love watching her.

The last several weeks we have been busy trying to get on a schedule in place.  We are doing pretty good I guess.  Seems like everyone has different schedules. I haven't seen much of my boys because of their working schedules but hoping as fall gets into full swing, I will see more of them.  Usually they are here on Sunday's for football and we have a great day together.

Speaking of fall, I did get my harvest decorations out this weekend.  I think the time has come to get rid of some of my stuff.  I don't need all the stuff I have.  I only put about half of it out.  I am really limited to space these days.  Michael and I have been doing alot of auctions lately.  I will have to share some of my finds.  As most of you know, when Tori graduates from high school  Michael and I plan to move away from here, and one of our goals is to take some wonderful antiques  with us.  We both love them. And they are much more reasonable here than in most places in the country.  Not to mention, plentiful.

.....well I need to scoot, got to do a couple of things and then get myself ready for bed.  Hope you have a wonderful week.

Hugs!
